Dried Dogwood Fruit (Shan Yu Rou / Shan Zhu Yu) can be found in Chinese provinces such as Zhejiang, Henan and Anhui. Shan Yu Rou / Shan Zhu Yu is plucked in late Autumn or early Winter.
These have a slight smell, sour and bitter taste and a thick, soft flesh which is purplish red in colour.
Dried Dogwood Fruit are herbs which may assist with excessive sweating, kidney and liver stability, reduce urination and stop bleeding.
These are also great as an anti-inflammatory and an ingredient to help improve energy levels naturally.
They can be used in a number of culinary dishes (see How to Use dropdown menu).

Dogwood Fruit Frozen Yoghurt
Prep time: 30 minutes | Cook time: 1-2 hours in freezer | Makes: 4 servings
1) Prep the fruit. Remove stems and gently cut in half. Remove seeds and use a spoon to scoop the fruit out. Then, mash the pulp with a fork to check for any hidden seeds.
2) Combine the mashed fruit with remaining ingredients in a medium-sized bowl.
3) Cover the bowl and place in freezer for 1-2 hours, checking occasionally to ensure consistency is correct consistency. Ensure that the mix does not get too thick / solid. Defrost if necessary.
