Tai Ju are the unopened buds of the chrysanthemum flower, harvested just before they bloom. They have long been used in Chinese herbal tradition, most often infused into light, fragrant teas.
Their small, compact size gives a lighter and more refined flavour than a fully opened chrysanthemum flower, which makes them a favourite for anyone who prefers a more delicate cup.
Keep sealed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Flower buds lose their aroma faster than roots or seeds, so an airtight jar is worth using once the pack is open.
Both come from the chrysanthemum, but they are picked at different stages and taste noticeably different:
Our herbs are 100% free from sulphur treatment. Sulphur is widely used in the industry to improve appearance and extend shelf life, but it alters the natural composition of the herb and may cause allergic reactions in some individuals. You can read more on our non-sulphur treated herbs page.
We source only DaoDi-grown Chinese herbs from clean, sustainable environments. Our relationships with growers since 2010 let us select material from its ideal region, harvested at the right time.
