About

Dried Orange peel, also known as Chen Pi, is considered aromatic with its therapeutic potential, warm temperature and spicy and slightly bitter taste.

The citrusy brightness and pungency of the fruit make it a natural mover and shaker of energy.

Orange fruit is one of the best sources of vitamin C, which is good for both overall wellness and skin care. Most of the potential benefits of orange are in its skin itself. The more aged the peel, the more potent its possible therapeutic energy.

Chen Pi is classically combined with Dried Ginger Root (Gan Jiang), Dried Cinnamon Bark (Rou Gui), and Dried Cloves (Ding Xiang) in warming blends.

Dried Orange Peel (Chen Pi) Potential Benefits

Digestive Support: The warming and slightly bitter nature of dried orange peel is traditionally used for its potential ability to support digestion and maintain balance after meals.

Naturally Uplifting Aroma: The citrussy fragrance of dried orange peel is often associated with potentially revitalising and invigorating properties.

Natural Compounds: Orange peel may contain naturally occurring plant compounds and essential oils that could complement overall well-being.

Skin Care: Aged orange peel has long been included in traditional preparations that might support natural skin radiance.

Aged Peel for Enhanced Potency: It is believed that the longer the peel is aged, the stronger its potentially warming and aromatic properties become.

Recommended Dosage

We recommend around 5g per portion.

For tea, steep a slice in hot water for five to ten minutes, or simmer for longer if you want a fuller, more bitter brew. In cooking, add a small piece at the start of a soup or braise so it has time to release its aroma, then remove it before serving if you prefer. For baking, grind to a fine powder first.

Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. Kept properly, the peel continues to age and deepen in aroma.
