Bai Zhi – 白芷 (Granules) is derived from the root of Angelica dahurica (Radix Angelicae Dahuricae), cultivated or harvested from authenticated production zones, cleaned and processed without sulphur-fumigation or pesticide residues. The raw herb is converted into a concentrated granule format under strict quality control, and supplied for professional use in traditional Chinese medicine contexts.
Bai Zhi grows across the cooler northern and western provinces of China, with Sichuan, Zhejiang and Hebei among its recognised production areas. The root is thick and pale, and it carries a strong, distinctly aromatic scent that is noticeable as soon as the bottle is opened. That aroma comes from the volatile oils in the root, and it is one of the more fragrant herbs in the dispensary range.
Both Bai Zhi and Dang Gui are Angelica species, and the English name "angelica" is used loosely for both, which causes regular confusion. They are different herbs with different roles in traditional practice.
