About

Dried Mulberry Leaves are extremely popular in China, Korea and Japan and are mainly used in herbal teas. Black and white mulberries are the most known out of the 10 species.

The mulberry has been used in China for over 3000 years and was traditionally used for food, paper-making, silkworms and its medicinal qualities.

The mulberry tea leaves have 25 times more calcium in comparison to the milk. It has ten times the fibre of green tea and more iron than spinach. Mulberry leaf tea contains a lot of Vitamin A.

Sang Ye comes from the same plant as Dried Mulberry Fruit (Sang Shen Zi), and is classically brewed with Dried Chrysanthemum Flowers (Ju Hua) and Dried Peppermint (Bo He) in light infusions.

Potential Benefits

Cooling: Sang Ye has long been valued in traditional practices as a cooling ingredient, particularly in warmer months.

Refreshing: Brewed as a light tea, mulberry leaf gives a clean, faintly grassy infusion that can be enjoyed warm or chilled.

Balance: Included in traditional blends intended to potentially encourage a sense of natural equilibrium.

Naturally Caffeine Free: A gentle alternative to green tea for anyone drinking infusions through the day or in the evening.

Versatile: Suits solo infusions or blending with other light, floral herbs.

Recommended Dosage

We recommend around 3g per portion.

Steep the leaves in hot water, just off the boil, for three to five minutes, then strain. A longer steep draws out more of the grassy character, so adjust to taste. The leaves can be brewed on their own or blended with other flowers and leaves from the range.

Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight.
